Meet the Team of Experts at Cross Accounting

Susan Henderson, Branch & Tax Manager

Atlanta-native Susan Henderson has been able to combine the skills attained in a degree in education followed by coursework in finance and accounting into a teachable approach to serving clients. She joins Cross Accounting as a branch/tax manager with 14 years of private and public accounting and financial planning experience. Susan, who has a concentration in individual and corporation taxation, enjoys helping business owners improve their profitability and position themselves for a better future — all while keeping a sense of humor. “You have to have a sense of humor because this business can be very serious,” she says.

Susan graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Education. She then studied finance and accounting at the University of California, Berkeley. After 10 moves to different parts of the country, including San Francisco and Colorado, Susan settled back in the Atlanta area. Since returning four years ago, she has worked virtually for another local CPA firm. Susan looks forward to the camaraderie found in an office environment and being part of the strong, client-focused team at Cross Accounting.

In her spare time, Susan is an avid genealogist and has volunteered as a researcher for historic locations. She loves to travel and has visited 13 countries as far flung and unique as Korea and Bulgaria. She enjoys spending time with family, as well as woodworking and renovating her house.

Bill Lincoln, CPA, Regional Director

With over 20 years in public accounting and almost five in business management with a fast-growing software company, Bill Lincoln is applying his expertise to build teams of professional staff and enhance firm resources to better serve clients. As regional director, Bill’s role includes overseeing the local branches, implementing firmwide processes and procedures, and developing professional staff into business and client leaders. 

With an intense yet easy-going manner, Bill is perfectly positioned to focus on the BJM network’s top-line growth while also working directly with branch managers to create client-focused, stellar teams of accounting professionals. As the BJM network grows, Bill will work with newly acquired entities to enhance not only their branch performance and client offerings, but also those of the region as a whole.

Bill spent most of his public accounting career with mid-sized firms. He has prepared and reviewed individual and corporate tax returns, supervised local and international teams of staff, developed workflow processes and implemented new technologies across firms and with clients, and served integral roles on merger teams. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting from West Virginia University and is a native of Pittsburgh. Bill has been in the Atlanta area for almost ten years.

When he is not working, Bill enjoys spending time with his family, particularly watching his three teenagers play soccer and tennis. He is also a home-improvement enthusiast and is always working on a house project.

Marilyn R McLaughlin

Marilyn McLaughlin, CPA

Marilyn is the firm’s Quickbooks guru and specializes in small business accounting. Marilyn, with 25 years of experience, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Clayton State University and has been a member of our team for over 10 years.

Sophia Curtis, EA

Sophia Curtis is a relentless leader and entrepreneur who enjoys preparing and educating others about taxes. She transitioned to Atlanta in September 2020, where the opportunity to work with Cross Accounting as a staff accountant was a natural fit for her interests; it ties in well with her helpful and meticulous nature.

Sophia was born in the beautiful island of Jamaica and moved to the United States in 2005. She resided in New York City where she held a variety of financial positions including bookkeeper, staff accountant, office manager, and purchasing coordinator. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from York College, City University of New York, and a Master of Business Administration with an accounting concentration from DeVry College, Keller Graduate School of Management. She is also licensed by the IRS as an enrolled agent, where she is fully qualified to represent taxpayers before the IRS.

When she isn’t working, she volunteers with immigrants, educating them on the immigration processes and helping them navigate the system. She also spends some of her spare time keeping up with the various tax changes. “I like to know the latest and I’m always seeking to deepen my knowledge in my profession,” she says. Sophia’s drive for success has been a fulfilling and rewarding journey that she continues to discover.

Mina Bhagat

Mina also recently joined us in a bookkeeping and accounting role. She brings 20+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll experience, along with a background in international banking. Mina completed her college education in Leicester, England before moving to the US several years ago. She enjoys traveling with her family to new cities and countries.

Pam Wood Ellis

Pam is a committed administrative professional with a strong work ethic and an eye for detail. Outside of the office, She is passionate about photography and telling stories through the photographs.
