Sophia Curtis is a relentless leader and entrepreneur who enjoys preparing and educating others about taxes. She transitioned to Atlanta in September 2020, where the opportunity to work with Cross Accounting as a staff accountant was a natural fit for her interests; it ties in well with her helpful and meticulous nature.
Sophia was born in the beautiful island of Jamaica and moved to the United States in 2005. She resided in New York City where she held a variety of financial positions including bookkeeper, staff accountant, office manager, and purchasing coordinator. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from York College, City University of New York, and a Master of Business Administration with an accounting concentration from DeVry College, Keller Graduate School of Management. She is also licensed by the IRS as an enrolled agent, where she is fully qualified to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
When she isn’t working, she volunteers with immigrants, educating them on the immigration processes and helping them navigate the system. She also spends some of her spare time keeping up with the various tax changes. “I like to know the latest and I’m always seeking to deepen my knowledge in my profession,” she says. Sophia’s drive for success has been a fulfilling and rewarding journey that she continues to discover.
